About Tracy



Work:

Tracy has worked at the Software Freedom Conservancy as Operations Manager since 2022. Mostly that means she administratively touches all parts of the organization, but her day to day has a great variety of things, from graphic design, to administering contracts, to coordinating their annual FOSSY Conference. Tracy is a vocal supporter of Open Source Software and accessibility, privacy, and freedom in tech.

Previously Tracy has worked as the Head Woodworker at Akerworks and Bookkeeper/Creative Director at Spark

Play:

When she's not working, Tracy spends much of her free time at Knox Makers, Knoxville's Community Makerspace. With 10,000 sq.ft of workshop and over 350 members, there's always some amazing projects in progress. Tracy also serves on the board of directors as Secretary and Membership Director. You might find her hugging the laser, hanging out in the Fiber Arts zone, or wandering around asking other members 1000 questions about their projects.
She also likes camping and hiking, reading every book, rocks, Lego, and beaurocracy.

Learn:

Tracy graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Geographical Information Systems and Technology from University of Tennessee in 2023, and a minor in Geology. She is available for tutoring in QGIS in person or virtually.

Talks:

Tracy regularly teaches New Member's Onboarding talks, Inkscape classes, and Laser 101 at Knox Makers, and has given talks at various conferences about maps, open source software, and makerspaces.
